Back Home

Matt was in California all this past week so I took a couple of vacation days from work and Mackenzie and I headed to South Carolina to spend some time with my family. We had planned on spending lots of time with my family and letting Mackenzie play with my neice Sophie a lot of the time, they just love being together and can entertain each other better than any other playmates. Of course, when we got to town Sophie came down with a fever virus and Mackenzie immediatly came down with a cold. So, the trip ended up being a little tougher than I thought and the girls weren't able to play together until today right before we were leaving. Matt met up with us late Friday night and the rest of the weekend got better from there. Here are a couple of pictures of the girls playing today...

The girls turned my Mom's house into a raceway. They were either racing on foot or by car!

Beep, Beep, Beep...

I just loved this picture of Mackenzie looking at a photograph of my Nana holding my Mom when she was a baby. How sweet!

1st Day of School

Today was Mackenzie's first day of school! I was nervous enough to leave her and then of course the weather had to be horrible. The poor little babies had to go to the basement of the church during a tornado warning. Can you imagine getting a room full of babies down the stairs?? Anyway, when I went to pick her up she was SOUND asleep in the crib. There is only one crib in the room because most kids at her age can do without their morning nap, but not Mackenzie. There was loud music playing, kids being loud and playing all around and she was snoozing away.

Getting ready to go..

Thanks for the backpack Aunt Heather and Nana

Thomas checking things out...

Sweet Stirling wanted Mackenzie to get up and play! The teacher said she kept going to the crib while crying and saying "Kenzie" trying to get her friend to come have fun!

Wilson was already there having fun when we got there. Can you believe how blonde his hair got at the beach?!

Bubbles!! Let the fun begin!

Mackenzie was not too happy when she had to get up from her nap. I got her all strapped in to the car, a little cranky but hopefully she had a good time at pre-school. We'll try it again on Wednesday!

First Big Boo Boo

First I have to say that I am so lucky that Mackenzie is 17 months old and this is her first scraped knee. When she was learning to walk she never fell down on any hard surfaces thankfully. Well as we all know, there's a first time for everything. She fell down on our back patio tonight and had her first big boo boo. Matt is out of town so I thought I'd blog about it so he could check out her scrape. Tomorrow I think I'll run to CVS and get some bactine or something like that, I didn't even have anything in the house to clean it with! After a few vanilla wafers and a bath she was back to her happy self. We'll see how it looks tomorrow...ouch!

Meet Your Teacher Day

Today Mackenzie went to her preschool to meet her new teacher. She was a little bit timid at first and just stood in one spot checking things out but slowly ventured away and started playing with all of the toys. Her first day is Monday and I am wondering if it will be harder on me to leave her than for her to adjust. I truly think that this program will be good for her. She loves playing with other children and I also think she's starting to get a little bit bored at home. My baby is growing up!! Check back on Monday for first day of school pics....

Sandbox Fun

A couple of weeks ago Matt and I got Mackenzie a sandbox for the back yard. It was one of those purchases that turned into a big project once we decided we needed to make an area for it in our yard. We finally got everything finished and ready to go yesterday and were planning to let her play in it when she got up from her nap. Because she was going to use it soon we didn't put the cover on and it poured down rain so yesterday's sandbox fun was postponed until today. After church we let her try it out and she a great time! We stripped her down and got out the hose to get her cleaned off and that turned in to even more fun than the sandbox provided. She had a blast playing in the water. Once her diaper turned into a water balloon we let her run around "au naturale". There are so many pictures that I had to do a slide show...enjoy!

Girlfriends

I have so many cute pictures of Mackenzie and Stirling together over the past 16 months. Here are just a few of my favorites. They are just so cute together!

The is the first time Mackenzie hugged her little friend! (Ok, she's sleeping, but it's still cute!)
So little and sweet

Play time at the park

It's much harder to get them to sit still for pics these days!

Baby Love

This morning Ali and Stirling came over for an early play date. Stirling showed Mackenzie how her baby doll wears diapers so of course Mackenzie's baby now needs diapers too. The only diapers I have are as big as this baby doll, so she is wrapped up like a mummy! Mackenzie also REALLY wanted her baby to have a bow in her hair, and got quite upset when I couldn't get the bow to stay. She didn't appreciate my explanation that the baby is bald :)

Matt has been out of town this week and I promised him I would update the blog with pictures of his baby girl while he was away. I have been a slacker so far this week, but this should catch him up!
